With Support from Lutheran World Relief, CEDO sought Gutsinda Technology application to enhance the SENTE project in Masaka sub-region. The project uses the Village Agent Model to support farmers with agricultural extension and data collection. The project is supporting 75 VEAS each equipped with a mobile phone and solar charging system. Each VEA is assigned approximately 200 farmers whom they regularly support with information on coffee, beans and maize value chains. Using the mobile phone, GEAs are able to access information and share it with farmers. Each VEA is backstopped by the field extension agent who is consulted on all technical issues. The VEAs also collect data linked to an online dashboard which facilitates timely project M&E.
